Due to the weak radiation source, no legal procedures are required. Although it is a radiation device, it has safety and ease of use comparable to general measuring instruments.

The radiation source used is below the lower limit quantity (regulatory target lower value), and since the radiation source is weak, no legal procedures are required. The density (concentration) of the solution or slurry flowing through the piping can be measured online without contact. The leakage radiation dose on the surface of the equipment is below 2.6 μSv/h, ensuring high safety, and due to the weak leakage radiation, the establishment of a controlled area is unnecessary. Gamma rays are attenuated when they pass through matter, depending on the density and distance. By measuring the amount of gamma rays that have passed through, the density of the material can be calculated. When a transmission-type gamma density meter is installed on pipes, the gamma rays pass through two materials: the fluid and the pipe. Therefore, it is not possible to calculate only the density of the fluid. To address this, calibration is performed using two types of fluid materials with known densities to offset the effects of the pipe and other materials.
